The Art of Exercise and the Alexander Technique

Exercise is great: it makes you look better, it raises your energy levels, it makes you feel better, it may even attract something extra into your life.  The only drawback is, it isn’t always a lot of fun.Much as you love the benefits, working out may bore you.  Sometimes keeping fit may seem like just too much effort.  Maybe you force yourself to get out there, because if you miss a couple of sessions, you’ll never go back.  Or perhaps you’ve had to stop or limit what you do because of injury. These problems arise when you are more concerned with the end result than the process.  When you do a piece of work, the chances are that you focus on doing it the best way you can.A leisure activity is different, of course, because it is something you do for rest and recreation.  But if your body is doing one thing and your mind is somewhere else you can’t maximise the benefits and enjoyment to be had from your fitness activities.

Learn to stay focused on the process of exercise, and the benefits will include:

bullet

Learning how you can keep exercising better

bullet

Awareness of warning signs

bullet

Greatly reduced risk of injury

bullet

Improved endurance

bullet

The ability to set yourself realistic goals

bullet

Consistent enjoyment of the process

bullet

Ongoing motivation

Annie has researched how you can apply the Alexander Technique to fitness activities, so that you can take exercise to a new level.  She has pioneered the Exercise Better Now approach to fitness. She runs frequent workshops on the Art of Exercise.
